Student Enrichment

Maureen (4th Grade)

  • Estimated cost: $300 for 4th grade students to visit LC Bates Museum in the spring.
  • The trip aligns with their social studies curriculum, specifically the Native American program.

Ranae Bray (1st Grade)

  • Upcoming nature initiative aimed at connecting students with outdoor learning opportunities.
  • Details on cost and specific needs are currently unavailable.
  • Plan to provide K-5 students with journals for the initiative.
  • Voting on funding will take place via email.

Spring Teacher Grants

  • $50 per classroom teacher for spring grants.
  • Distribution will take place during Teacher Appreciation Week.
  • Total Grants: 39 (28 at GJM, 11 at Albert Hall).
  • Final decision: Increase grant amount to $65 per teacher after discussion.
  • Sarah Staffiere will oversee the distribution of funds.

Teacher Appreciation Coffee Bar:

  • Starbucks: Providing boxed coffee, creamer, sugar, sugar alternatives, cups, lids, tea, and hot water.
  • Selah Tea: Preferred vendor; however, they have not responded to emails.
  • Event Schedule:
    • May 6 (Tuesday) at George J. Mitchell
    • May 8 (Thursday) at Albert Hall
  • Setup at 7:15 AM, event starts at 7:30 AM.
  • Volunteers: Sarah, Carrie, Jessie, and Sarah.
  • Hillman’s Bakery (Fairfield) offered the best price on pastries and donuts in previous years.
  • Erica Morrison will continue reaching out to Selah Tea.

Fundraisers

Bingo Night:

  • Attendance: ~200 people.
  • Setup: 10-12 tables.
  • Revenue: $589.60 in cash.
  • Next Steps: Purchase additional bingo markers.
  • Huge thanks to all volunteers!

Skate Into Summer:

  • Date: May 15, 6-8 PM.
  • Offerings: Candy, snacks, beverages.
  • Venue: Sunbeam Roller Rink (Smithfield) – Thank you!
  • New Addition: “Bring Your Own Skates” option to help with rental shortages and long lines.

Community Carnival:

  • Date: Saturday, June 7, 11 AM – 2 PM.
  • Pre-sales will be available.
  • Confirmed Collaborations:
    • Educare (loaning games)
    • Fire Department, Police Department
    • Waterville Creates, Waterville Library, Mayor’s Office
  • Prizes: Carrie has secured exciting prizes.
  • To-Do List:
    • Check stock of popcorn.
    • Purchase face paint.
  • Discovery Museum: Charging $25/hour; we may opt out to maintain fundraising margins.
  • Food Vendor:
    • Rita’s Food Truck – Sarah LeVan to confirm.
    • She will also obtain a new check from last year’s carnival (previous check was not cashed).
  • Entertainment:
    • Toony Loony Rentals: Minions bounce house rental ($517.88).
    • High school teen clubs will be contacted for volunteers.
    • Seeking donations and additional collaborations (e.g., local radio stations).
    • Additional email blast to recruit volunteers.
  • Press Coverage: Amy Caulder (newspaper) acknowledged our request.
  • Volunteer Needs:
    • Ticket table: Minimum 2 volunteers.
    • Face painting: 4 volunteers ideal.
