The Waterville Elementary Schools PTA is thrilled to announce the First Annual 5th Grade Science Fair, made possible through the efforts of two dedicated PTA members and a collaboration with Colby College and the ASH administrators, faculty, and staff.

This significant student enrichment initiative has been a long-term goal for the PTA. The fundraising efforts, generously supported by the community, have enabled the PTA to provide this STEM opportunity for all 5th graders in the public schools. The program aims to teach students the scientific method, encourage independent investigation of interesting questions, and offer an authentic science experience. Students can choose to work on their projects at home or join the newly formed Science Club for support. The initiative will culminate in a Science Fair in May, where students will showcase and present their experiments to their schoolmates, parents, and the community.

The enrichment program was officially launched with a Mad Scientist Assembly at Albert S. Hall School. Hosted by Lindsay Madison and Sarah Staffiere from Colby College, the assembly highlighted the fascinating world of science and the scientific method for the entire 5th grade class.

The PTA acknowledges the hard work and dedication of Carrie LeVan and Sarah Staffiere, who have been instrumental in organizing this initiative. They also extend their gratitude to David Motel for his updates to the PTA website and to Sarah St. Pierre for her enthusiasm in making this event a staple at Hall School.
